Sanitation Supervisor

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana

Position Overview:

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the sanitation operations within our food manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all cleaning and sanitation procedures are executed effectively to meet safety and quality standards. The Sanitation Supervisor will lead a team, manage sanitation schedules, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Supervision and Management:

  • Lead, train, and manage a team of sanitation workers.
  • Schedule and oversee daily sanitation tasks and ensure adherence to cleaning protocols.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to staff.

Sanitation Procedures:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain sanitation procedures and protocols.
  • Ensure cleaning and sanitizing procedures are followed in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of cleaning procedures and make necessary adjustments.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding sanitation and food safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning logs, inspection reports, and training documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

Safety and Hygiene:

  • Promote and enforce safety practices and ensure the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Address and resolve any safety hazards or sanitation issues promptly.
  • Investigate and report any incidents or violations related to sanitation and safety.

Inventory and Supplies:

  • Manage inventory of sanitation supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure that all cleaning supplies are stored and handled properly.
  • Coordinate with vendors for the procurement of cleaning agents and equipment as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency in sanitation operations.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and advancements in sanitation technology.
  • Implement changes and upgrades to enhance sanitation effectiveness.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of sanitation procedures, food safety regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe) is preferred.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Food Science) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sanitation or a related role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.
  • Significant amount of time working at a computer station.
  • Production facility setting.
    • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
    • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
  • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
